While WYSIWYG editors are useful in some cases, most times they're over-bloated for the purposes they address.

X-editable allows text on a page to be edited without loaded that large JavaScript file responsible for the WYSIWYG editing functionality.

X-editable allows any text to be edited inline (in-place) via simple AJAX calls and the use of simple "Save/Cancel" buttons. Additionally, the editing interface can also be shown inside a tooltip floating next to the text as well.

The plugin comes in three versions: one which works with the Bootstrap frontend framework, one that works with jQuery UI, and one that works with jQuery alone.

Demos for all versions, along with documentation is included in the download package.

X-editable is also available for AngularJS applications as the Angular-xeditable directive.
