Attachments - A special metabox is added to the post/page editing section for adding new files

Adding files to a WordPress page or post usually meant adding the file as a normal link or embeddable media.

The "Attachments" plugin adds a special metabox on the post/page editing screen where attachments can be managed and published in one location as standalone page items.

All files added to this plugin will be published under the post/page's content, in a special "Attachments" section.

The purpose of the plugin was to bring in more order to file embedding in WordPress, by separating true embeds from special downloadable attachments.

Besides this there's no other difference between adding a normal embed and an attachment, the plugin being dedicated for providing a specialized section where additional attached content can be presented using an alternative, summarizing interface.

Unpack and upload it to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress.
