jQuery.popeye is a similar project to other more famous jQuery image viewers like Lightbox, Colorbox, Thickbox, etc..
But unlike these projects, images are not shown inside a modal, they're simply expanded over the text.
It will enlarge an image to it's full ratio and allow the user to view it inside an expandable container.
