Opentip is a generic JavaScript library that was created to help developers create tooltips.

It is not tied to any particular tooltip structure or style and comes packed with lots of parameters which programmers can tweak and get the tooltip they desire.

These include settings for the tooltip's style, stem types, position next to the mouse cursor or the hovered element, and the usage of various CSS3 animations for showing and hiding the tooltip.

Tooltip content can be taken from the hovered element or set via AJAX, and the tips can be shown for various types of events, ranging from clicks to hovers, from form submissions to browser window resizes.

All tooltips are drawn using the new HTML5 canvas utility, so they all render the same for all users, regardless their browser type and version.

Originally developed for the Prototype JavaScript framework, Opentip is now framework agnostic and can work with or without any other JS frameworks.
