MailCommander is an interesting e-mail/SMS system built on PHP and IMAP for any web server befitting those requirements.
MailCommander keeps a queue in an IMAP-compatible e-mail account with e-mails of supplied commands and arguments to perform simple tasks through MailCommander.
For example, MailCommander is set up on an ordinary web server and once you send a text message or e-mail with a message like "weather 13245", MailCommander (when run depending on cron job) will look at every e-mail in the queue and performs a command. MailCommander can also retrieve data depending on how the commands are set up.
Referring to the "weather 13245" example, MailCommander will look in the database for the command named "weather" and run a command to go to Yahoo Weather and seek the weather in the "13245" area code (argument 1) and reply to the e-mail with the data from the website (removing unnecessary information).
MailCommander was designed for people who want to run commands or get information by simple text messaging on a mobile phone without the use of an internet connection through a computer.
