Sprockets 2.12.2

A very powerful Ruby asset & packaging system, Sprockets will greatly increase a project's speed and help improve site performance
This is because Sprockets will merge, compile and serve JavaScript, CoffeeScript, CSS, LESS, SCSS, and Sass files.

By reducing the sizes and the time it takes to compile all these static resources, Sprockets helps optimize resource usage on both the server and the client's side.

Under the hood Sprockets is built upon Rake, a make-like utility using standard Ruby syntax for the build specification file.

Basically Sprockets uses Rake files to automatically determine the resources it needs to compress and optimize.

This automatically handles all resource dependencies as well and makes sure files are pre-processed (in the case of LESS, SCSS, CoffeeScript) before being minified.

Main features:

  • Advanced dependency management
  • Custom load path
  • Support for serving assets over HTTP
  • Supports client-side JavaScript templates
  • ERB-friendly
