    Spreadsheet description

This is a Ruby library to generate Excel compatible spreadsheets on any platform

No OLE is required to use the library.

Spreadsheet is a combination/complete rewrite of the Spreadsheet::Excel Library by Daniel J. Berger and the ParseExcel Library by Hannes Wyss.

Spreadsheet can read, write and modify Spreadsheet Documents.

Here are some key features of "Spreadsheet":

    · Supported outline (grouping) functions
    · Significantly improved memory-efficiency when reading large Excel Files
    · Limited Spreadsheet modification support
    · Improved handling of String Encodings

What's New in This Release: [ read full changelog ]

    · The 'packed' encoding was different than 'data' and 'header' and both (data/header) had the same encoding forced on 'internal' method.
