eBay’s earnings report reveals that the company had a pretty good fourth quarter in 2013.
The report indicates that the company’s revenue was of $4.5 billion (€3.3 billion), up 13 percent from the same period in 2012, as expected by Wall Street analysts.
eBay’s global payments unit, PayPal, also had a good year. Its revenue increased by 19 percent year over year, adding up to a total of $6.6 billion (€4.84 billion) in 2013. It also gained 5.2 million active registered accounts, which means it now has 143 million users.
“We feel good about our performance and strong finish in the fourth quarter, with the holiday shopping season clearly showing how online, mobile and other omni-channel commerce capabilities are changing how consumers shop and pay,” reads a message from John Donahoe, eBay CEO and president.
Mobile was a particularly good area in 2013. The company’s mobile commerce volume grew 88 percent.
