Since Bitcoins are so popular nowadays, Yelp is keeping up with the trends. The company that provides information about business hours, location, delivery service, ratings and more has now added information about whether it’s possible to make payments with Bitcoin.

According to Yelp’s announcement, the feature will continue to expand and more businesses will be marked accordingly.

“We’re constantly thinking about how to make our business attributes more useful for consumers and businesses. That’s why we’re excited to announce that as of today, we’re adding a new attribute: ‘Accepts Bitcoin: Yes’,” the company wrote in a blog post.

Bitcoins have been around for a while now, but over the past year, cryptocurrencies have skyrocketed and captured everyone’s attention. While some nations have outright banned Bitcoins and all other similar currencies, plenty of other countries have adopted a lenient attitude towards them and are allowing people and businesses to handle virtual currencies.

“For those who haven’t heard the buzz about Bitcoin, it’s a new payment technology that allows consumers and businesses to make fast, secure and low-cost digital payments from any Internet-enabled device. Bitcoin also allows for consumers and businesses to transact without having to store sensitive data like a credit card number. Finally, like cash, Bitcoin's transactions are one-way, so businesses don't have to worry about chargebacks,” reads Yelp’s blog post.

Businesses can edit their entries and add information about whether or not they accept Bitcoins.
