It looks like the spring cleaning fever has expanded rapidly and reached Yahoo. The company has announced that by the end of the month several products will stop working.
The process includes several different products, said Jay Rossiter, executive VP in charge of platforms in a blog post.
Yahoo! Deals, Yahoo! SMS Alerts, Yahoo! Kids, as well as the Mail and Messenger feature phone apps, and older versions of Yahoo! Mail won’t be available starting next month.
However, the people at Yahoo won’t simply pull the plug on these features and leave you with nothing to use instead.
Rossiter points out that there are ways to save the coupons on Yahoo! Deals and encourages those that receive SMS alerts to download various mobile apps for their needs, such as news, weather reports, sports scores and stock prices.
The message also mentions that Yahoo! Mail and Messenger apps for feature phones (J2ME) will be going away, but the features will still be supported via mobile browsers.
Also, starting with June 3, 2013, older versions of Yahoo! Mail will stop working as well in favor of the new one that is both faster and easier to use.
