Yahoo makes another purchase, snagging off Incredible Labs, the startup behind mobile personal assistant app Donna.

As on many other occasions when Yahoo bought a company, Donna will be shutting down, much to the displeasure of its users.

“Today, we are announcing that Incredible Labs has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Yahoo. We’re looking forward to the possibilities that will come from bringing the Donna vision—letting technology take care of you—to Yahoo,” reads a message signed by several members of the team.

They will be joining Yahoo upon closing, although some won’t be on Yahoo’s payroll for the first time. For instance, Kevin Cheng used to work for both Yahoo and Twitter.

Scott San Filippo, co-founder of Incredible Labs, announced in a separate blog post that he would not be joining Yahoo.

“The transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close shortly. Following closing, Donna will be removed from the app store and discontinued as a service.”
