UK Prime Minister Joins Twitter, Promises There Won't Be "Too Many Tweets"

The Prime Minister has now set up his first personal account

Twitter isn't exactly novel at this point, but it seems a big figure joining the site is still news. UK Prime Minister David Cameron is now an official Twitterite, regaling the world with his witty tweets from @David_Cameron.

His first words are perhaps a sign of things to come, or [i]not come, as the case may be.

"I'm starting Conference with this new Twitter feed about my role as Conservative Leader. I promise there won't be 'too many tweets...'," he said. Indeed there haven't, just four in the two days he's been on the site.

The "too many tweets..." reference is actually a quote from himself, when he offered his opinion on Twitter on public radio. "The trouble with Twitter, the instantness of it – too many twits might make a twat," he said at the time causing somewhat of a stir.

The office of the Prime Minister already tweets at @Number10gov, but this new one is Cameron's personal account.
