The company is responding to a wave of displeasure from users
Twitter will implement a new feature designed to make reporting abusive tweets a lot easier. The option is already available for iPhone Twitter users, but recent developments have pushed the company to expand it to include other platforms as well, CNET reports.
The announcement comes after a freelance journalist and feminist campaigner was threatened with rape over the platform. Her statements caused a wave of sympathy and general outcry over such threats.
In response, Twitter UK’s General Manager Tony Wang has stated the company is already taking a look into ways to simplify reporting those who abuse the platform’s rules.
This could be done with a simple “Report Tweet” button on mobile and web platforms. The company said it will suspend accounts that are found to be in breach of Twitter rules.
