The site knows that spending too much time on it probably isn't a good thing
It's not exactly rocket science that too much of everything is a bad thing. This includes Facebook, of course, something Facebook itself is acknowledging.The problem with this assertion though is that people's definition of "too much" varies greatly.
"Birthday cakes are made for people to be together. They give friends a place to gather and celebrate. But too much cake probably isn’t healthy. So birthday cake is a lot like Facebook," Facebook said in a recent post.
You may remember the rather ridiculous "chairs are like Facebook" ad, the first one Facebook ever created, of a short while ago, this post is obviously referencing to that.
Still, it's a worthwhile advice. What's more, it seems that it's one Facebook is taking to heart, the site is no longer focusing on keeping its users glued to their Facebook page (well, not as much anyway) but more on enabling people to get the most out of the time they do spend on the site.
