The new feature should make uploading and managing files a snap
WordPress 3.5 is very close to launch. The big new features in this latest release all have to do with media management. The media upload tools are getting a revamp and you can try them out by using a testing release of WordPress 3.5.Alternatively, you can try them out on WordPress.com which has rolled out the new features already.
"Uploading and editing media just got a whole lot better on WordPress.com. Check out our new Media Manager, designed to make it easier to upload images, audio, and video files to your site and edit their attributes on the fly," WordPress.com announced.
The new "Add Media" button is all you need for photos, music, videos and so on. You can upload new files via drag and drop, or you can search for files you've already uploaded in the Media Library.
You can also edit the metadata of any image you add from the Media Manager with a simple click. Things like description and tile are available, but also info such as what size to use in the post.
Creating a new gallery is equally simple, just select the files you want and click the "Create a new gallery" button. All of these features are now live on WordPress.com.
WordPress 3.5 is scheduled for launch on December 5, so you've only got a few more days to wait before it rolls out.
