Google wanted the most enthusiastic fans to be the first owners
If you were still waiting for inspiration to write the perfect Google Glass "application letter," it's too late now, Google is no longer accepting entries.A short while ago, Google launched a challenge to anyone who wanted Glass to write why they wanted it and what they planned to do with the device.
The biggest fans, or rather those that had the best ideas would be invited to be the first buyers of the Explorer Edition of Google Glass, the public prototype version.
Google will be asking at least some of those it picked to come down to an event in New York, $1,500 in hand, to get their devices.
The company said nothing about how many devices it planned to distribute or when the developers who pre-ordered it last year might start getting them.
"We have been overwhelmed, entertained and inspired by your responses. #ifihadglass is now closed and we will be notifying successful applicants soon. If you don’t hear from us, don’t despair! There will be more chances to get Glass at a later date," Google explained.
