Syria has become completely cut off from the internet, reports indicate that none of the country's internal IPs can be reached from the outside, meaning no one there can access any international website as well, assuming that connections still work inside the country.
"Starting at 10:26 UTC (12:26pm in Damascus), Syria's international Internet connectivity shut down. In the global routing table, all 84 of Syria's IP address blocks have become unreachable, effectively removing the country from the Internet," Renesys, an internet monitoring company, wrote.
Reports from inside the country confirm that the internet has been down for at least half a day, with telephone lines also being affected.
This is not the first time Syrian government has cut off internet access, though there may be other causes. The country has been engaged in a bloody civil war for many months and things are only getting worse. The only surprising thing is that it took so long to shut down the web.
