Edward Snowden is roaming freely through Russia and no one can recognize him, his lawyer says, because he wears a disguise.

Of course, such a thing was already hinted at by Anatoly Kucherena in previous statements, where he also mentioned that Edward Snowden lives at an undisclosed address where he has hired guards.

“I am his only link with the outside world at the moment. Even the contacts with his parents are carried out through me,” Kucherena told Russian weekly magazine Itogi.

This isn’t exactly surprising, considering Snowden has been adamant about his privacy ever since he was given temporary asylum in Russia on August 1, which he reasoned was for security purposes, going as far as asking the journalists not to look for him.

However, Snowden wants to feel as a free man as much as possible, so he often goes on walks in disguise. “He would walk past you and you wouldn’t recognize him,” his lawyer said.

At the same time, the NSA whistleblower is a fast learner and he’s been focusing on the Russian language, which he already has a grasp on.

And while he may have given up his life in the United States, Kucherena says Snowden is not disappointed at all and continues to believe he did the right thing.
