It’s fairly easy to see that the logos of Path and Pinterest are relatively similar – a stylized P in a combination of white and red. While Pinterest is trying to get the logo trademarked, Path is doing its best to prevent this.
Pinterest wants to register the design mark with the US Trademark office, but Path has asked for an extension in order to file an opposition.
As TechCrunch reports, the case is only just beginning so it’s difficult to tell which company will win. However, if Pinterest is granted the trademark to the “P,” then other companies, including Path could be banned from using similar designs.
Of course, this isn’t the first time such a battle is fought between companies, and it’s certainly not going to be the last.
