The soldiers of the US Army cannot access stories related to the NSA leak
The entire world has access to the PRISM information revealed by the media, but the US army is blocking access to such coverage on the Guardian and other news websites across its bases.Following The Guardian’s publishing of NSA leaks related to the US espionage program, American army officials have implemented some restrictions to what its soldiers can view regarding the entire scandal, The Next Web reports.
A statement made by a spokesperson for the Army Network Enterprise Technology Command suggests that other media is being restricted as well, not only Internet access.
“We make every effort to balance the need to preserve information access with operational security, however there are strict policies and directives in place regarding protecting and handling classified information,” the spokesperson said.
So far, Edward Snowden has released documents regarding the NSA's programs for collecting phone call metadata, online data and email monitoring, to name just a few of the topics made public over the past few weeks.
