If you think the Google Search is too cluttered, you'll be glad to hear that you can get rid of some useless features Google insists on shoving in your face, like the top navbar.
It's quite easy too, as the Google Operating System blog notes, you can use a simple trick to get rid of the black navbar, visiting the search URL for the "A Google a Day" puzzle game, google.com/webhp?esrch=Agad::Public.
You'll have to make do with results that are a week old, at least, Google doesn't want to spoil your puzzles, but it's a small price to pay for search page purity.
Alternatively, you can install any of the myriad of user styles that get rid of the navbar and come with plenty of other customization options.
Thankfully though, you won't have to put up with this for long, it seems that Google agrees that there's just too much stuff on the search page and is experimenting with a version lacking the top navbar.
