Using Google to search for a music video now comes with something extra, namely a new card format displayed on top of the search results.
Google is now displaying links to YouTube videos with a large card at the top of the page. Clicking on it won’t play your video directly into the page, but it will redirect you to the site by opening it in a new tab.
The card also displays a little bit of information about the video, such as the name of the artist, the album the track is part of, and the release year.
This doesn’t seem to work for all videos, but most official uploads from VEVO seem to show up. It’s not just YouTube that gets this treatment, since favoring its own site would put all competition authorities on its case again, but also Vimeo and Dailymotion. The format differs, however.
