As promised, Google has started announcing the winners of its Google Glass competition, the first people who will be able to get their hands, or rather their ears, on the coveted device. Unsurprisingly, Google was rather picky about who gets one. While a few thousand people have been chosen, many of them are quite famous or at least have a sizeable following online.
One enterprising Stanford student scraped the Twitter API to find who is about to get a device. It's not a complete list, but it's good enough to be relevant.
Neil Patrick Harris is the most popular person to get Google Glass, on Twitter at least, he has 5.5 million followers. Soulja Boy and Alyssa Milano are a couple of other popular Twitterers that are also getting a Google Glass.
Perhaps the most fitting winner though is actor LeVar Burton, who played Geordi La Forge on Star Trek The Next Generation. Though, as he put it, Google Glass would be a downgrade for him.
