AOL has launched a new premium video service in the United Kingdom after securing deals with multiple partners.
The company’s “AOL On” network is now making its way into the United Kingdom. Users will now have access to premium videos that include both curated and original content, TechCrunch reports.
This is the first market outside of North America where AOL On is being expanded, which means a dedicated app will become available for the service for both iOS and Android devices early next month.
So far, there are some 750,000 videos on the platform, to which additional content will be added from the company’s new partners in the United Kingdom.
As mentioned, AOL signed partnership deals with Endemol, Channel 4 News, ITN, Scripps Networks International, MyMovies, Zoom.In and Parentchannel.tv. Additional clips from reality shows such as Supernanny will be provided by Little Dot Studios.
This means that AOL On UK will cover news, entertainment, but also style and technology.
AOL was founded back in 1983 and has since grown to be a leading tech company. In the past years, however, the services offered by AOL have lost some of their shine and the company has dropped in users and revenue. AOL has been trying to regain some of its former fame.
