Amazon Prime prices could go up in the near future, the company revealed during the quarterly earnings conference.
The retailer is considering sending the prices up by 50 percent. Currently, it costs $79 (€58.3) per year, which means that the price could go up with as much as $40 (€29).
The service is perfect for frequent Amazon shoppers. It offers free two-day shipping on most products on the site, no minimum order size, as well as unlimited instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows, free books and special offers.
The company claims that the cost of shipping is increasing and that Amazon wasn’t sure whether it could continue to offer Prime at the current price.
Amazon is currently in a tight spot after the company’s stock started suffering following the weak performance during the holiday season.
