Amazon is expanding its book-lending program for the Kindle to Europe. What this means is that Kindle users will be able to "borrow" ebooks they like, read them at leisure and return them when they're done. The Kindle Owners' Lending Library is only available to Amazon Prime subscribers.
Amazon Prime offers free two-day delivery, or one day in Europe, on anything from Amazon, access to the company's huge library of TV shows and movies and more recently ebooks as well, all for $79 per year in the US, £49 in the UK or €49 elsewhere in Europe where it's available.
Amazon Prime is called Amazon Premium in France and it doesn't come with videos. Still, the book-lending program is now available in the UK, France and Germany.
Kindle owners there will be able to choose from the 200,000 books currently on offer for free. The program, along with the new Kindle Paperwhite, will be available there at the end of October.
